Throughout their 35+ year tenure, The Coachmen have produced several recordings, however, none as meaningful as "This Old House", released by the quartet in May 2004. Based upon years of requests for the quartet to put their music on record, The Coachmen chose a selection of the songs most requested in their live performances for their first official album. As indicated by the album's title, The Coachmen chose to begin the compilation with an arousing rendition of Stuart Hamblen's "This Old House". Following is a moving interpretation of Ken Medema's spiritual "Lord, Listen to Your Children", featuring vocalist Pete Campbell. Pianist and vocalist Chris Campbell is featured on two self-written songs entitled "Take Time for Jesus on Your Way" and "I Pledge My Allegiance to the Cross". Chris's linguistic talents are also put to the test on the lyrically-challenging Arthur Smith standard "The Fourth Man". Bob Campbell is featured on the narrative-based Irving Berlin classic "Supper Time" and on two self-written songs, namely the harmony-rich "When He Died We Were Born" and "Home Sweet Home Virginia", the composition that reached the final stages of the Virginia state song competition. The entire group then showcases its four-part harmony on "Glory to God in the Highest". Tenor vocalist John Lane is featured on Johnny Russell's country standard "Baptism of Jesse Taylor" and the album is closed with an emotional version of Squire Parson's "Sweet Beulah Land". The cover of the album was photographed at an abandoned house in the Sears Hill area of Staunton, VA. This photograph holds special meaning to the group as ancestors of Ada Campbell, wife and mother, respectively, of Coachmen members Pete and Chris Campbell, occupied the house for several generations. "This Old House" introduced the Coachmen to the country and gospel radio market of Virginia and to a grass roots touring schedule that gained them notoriety as a gospel entertainment act.
