Music:"Going Home" CD
June 2005 marked the release of "Going Home", The Coachmen's sophomore recording effort. While "Going Home" and "This Old House" are both reminiscent of their gospel heritage and small town roots, "Going Home" shows a more advanced and diverse Coachmen in terms of their material and their vocal, musical, and songwriting styles. Commencing with arousing versions of old gospel favorites "Glory, Glory Clear the Road" and "Sweeter as the Days Go By", the collection includes many unique renditions of similar gospel standards for which they have become known, including "Blessed Assurance", "Mansion Over the Hilltop", and "Thanks to Calvary." Highlighted on the album is their typical concert opener "Still Feeling Fine", and "God on the Mountain" which has always been a crowd favorite. However, the uniqueness of this album is driven by such middle-of-the-road selections as The Judd's "Love Can Build a Bridge", Josh Turner's "Long Black Train" and an unforgettable quartet arrangement of John Denver's "Back Home Again". As always, the group includes samples of their original material including "When the Eagle Flies", a "God-and-country" song penned by Chris Campbell, and "I'll Be Thankful Lord", a Christmas song written by Bob Campbell. With regard to original material however, this album is specifically highlighted by its closer, "Three Roses", which replays the "life of love" between a man and wife, penned by Bob Campbell and fellow California-writer William Cobbs.
